hwk 1: researching coasts |
|
Click on the file and use the instructions as a guide to researching the range of coastal landforms.
hwk 2: evaluating managed retreat
The initial part of this homework requires you to research why managed retreat is considered to be such a controversial option. You need to click on the link below and read the Marinet article. For each of the four locations you should produce a summary table showing the arguments for and against each project. It would be helpful to identify who is putting forward the arguments. (these are known as the stakeholders eg Environment Agency or Local farmers). The projects occur in Sussex, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk.
Having completed your research the second part of the homework is to answer the 10 mark question, just click on the file below.
If you view the other slides on the homework powerpoint there are further evaluation points for you to consider.

hwk 3: explaining coastal flood risk
HWk 4: A-Level coasts Sample PPq
Explain the formation of the cliff profile shown in 3A (6)
Explain the influence of rock structure and lithology on the physical features shown in photograph 3B (6)
Explain how the sediment cell concept contributes to the understanding of coastal systems (8) (You should define sediment cells, discuss what they can tell us about coastal systems.
You should also consider what limitations sediment cells may have)
Evaluate the contribution that changes in sea level make to the formation of coastal landscapes (20) (You will need to consider other variables that shape coastal landscape formation. You also need to think how pre-existing conditions may affect how different coastlines develop with sea level changes. Consider short and long term timescales.)
Final Hint: Make sure you plan your answers!

Hwk 5: coastal processes & landforms
This beautiful coastal landform, the Azure Window, has collapsed this week!
This homework uses questions from a different specification to test your knowledge on coastal processes and landforms.
Please complete the homework handouts and use the file below to interpret any diagrams that may be in colour.
